युगेष्वावर्तमानेषु धर्मो व्यावर्तते पुन: । धर्मे व्यावर्तमाने तु लोको व्यावर्तते पुन:,युगोंके परिवर्तन होनेपर आनेवाले युगोंके अनुसार धर्मका भी हास होता जाता है। इस प्रकार धर्मके क्षीण होनेसे लोक (की सुख-सुविधा)-का भी क्षय होने लगता है
yugeṣv āvartamāneṣu dharmo vyāvartate punaḥ | dharme vyāvartamāne tu loko vyāvartate punaḥ ||
เมื่อยุคทั้งหลายเวียนวนสืบต่อกัน ธรรมะก็ผันแปรและเสื่อมลงตามลักษณะของยุคที่มาถึง. ครั้นธรรมะเสื่อมเช่นนั้น โลกและระเบียบของโลกก็เสื่อมถอยลงซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า.
