Nandā–Kauśikī Tīrtha Passage
प्लावनार्थ नरश्रेष्ठ पुण्येन सलिलेन च । यह सुनकर राजा भगीरथ जहाँ महात्मा सगरपुत्रोंके शरीर पड़े थे, वहाँ गंगाजीके पावन जलसे उन शरीरोंको प्लावित करनेके लिये उस स्थानसे प्रस्थित हुए
plāvanārthaṃ naraśreṣṭha puṇyena salilena ca |
โลมศะกล่าวว่า “โอ้ยอดแห่งมนุษย์ เพื่อชำระล้างพวกเขาด้วยสายน้ำอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์”
लोगश उवाच
The passage highlights dharma expressed as responsibility toward one’s ancestors: sacred acts performed with pure intention—such as bringing holy water for purification—are portrayed as compassionate duties that generate merit and aid the departed.
Lomaśa narrates that Bhagīratha, upon hearing the need for ritual cleansing, departs to the place where Sagara’s sons lie, intending to wash their bodies with the sacred waters of the Gaṅgā so they may be purified and spiritually benefited.
