Even amid political tension, dhārmic culture values honoring virtue and rightful stature. Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s rising for Kṛṣṇa signals recognition of Kṛṣṇa’s ethical authority and the norms of respect that should guide rulers and elders.
Kṛṣṇa arrives at the Kuru court during the Udyoga Parva’s diplomatic phase. Dhṛtarāṣṭra, along with Bhīṣma and Droṇa, stands up to receive him—an act of formal welcome and acknowledgment of his eminence.
