वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) as unwavering commitment: once a solemn declaration is made, its violation is treated as a moral failure. It also reflects the kṣatriya ethos where resolve and accountability for one’s word are bound to action, even when that action is violent within the framework of war.
A firm pledge is being voiced: the speaker asserts that the statement will not be broken and vows to advance with a mace to kill Duryodhana, characterized as “amarṣaṇa” (intolerant/unforbearing). The line intensifies the atmosphere of impending conflict in the Udyoga Parva.
