Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 72 — Bhīmasena’s counsel on conciliation and Duryodhana’s disposition

शमं वै याचमानस्त्वं नाधर्म तत्र लप्स्यसे । कुरून्‌ विगर्हयिष्यन्ति धृतराष्ट्र च पार्थिवा:,वहाँ शान्तिके लिये याचना करनेपर आप अधर्मके भी भागी न होंगे। सब राजा कौरवोंकी तथा धृतराष्ट्रकी ही निन्‍्दा करेंगे

śamaṃ vai yācamānas tvaṃ nādharmaṃ tatra lapsyase | kurūn vigarhayiṣyanti dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ ca pārthivāḥ ||

หากท่านวอนขอสันติและยื่นคำขอให้ปรองดอง ท่านย่อมไม่ต้องรับส่วนแห่งอธรรมเลย ตรงกันข้าม บรรดากษัตริย์จะตำหนิพวกกุรุ และตำหนิธฤตราษฏระด้วย
