Saṃjaya’s Warning to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: Accountability, Alliance-Shift, and the Pāṇḍava Strategic Edge
yad idaṁ te vilapitaṁ pāṇḍavān prati bhārata | anīśeneva rājendra sarvam etan nirarthakam ||
Mere lamentation, especially when one still has agency as a ruler, is ethically empty; a king must move from helpless complaint to responsible decision and action aligned with dharma.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra has been speaking anxiously about the Pāṇḍavas’ power and lamenting as if he were helpless; Sañjaya rebukes him, saying such talk is futile.
