Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 3 — Sātyaki on Inner Disposition, Legitimacy, and Coercive Readiness

Even the intelligent must choose humility and reconciliation when dharma requires it; refusing to submit to rightful authority and peace-making leads to ruin—symbolized as a ‘journey to Yama’s abode’—especially when violent conflict is imminent.
The narrator warns that certain parties, if they do not decide to bow at Yudhiṣṭhira’s feet and seek settlement, will meet death; the threat is intensified by the presence of Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki), who, when provoked, is portrayed as unstoppable in battle.
