Drupada’s Alarm and Inquiry Regarding Śikhaṇḍinī (द्रुपदस्य भय-विमर्शः)

कुबेरने उसके निवासस्थानको सब ओरसे सुसज्जित, मणि, रत्न तथा सुवर्णकी मालाओंसे परिपूर्ण, भाँति-भाँतिके पुष्पोंकी सुगन्धसे व्याप्त तथा झाड़-बुहार और धो-पोंछ देनेके कारण शोभासम्पन्न देखकर यक्षराजने स्थूणाकर्णके सेवकोंसे पूछा--“अमित पराक्रमी यक्षो! स्थूणाकर्णका यह भवन तो सब प्रकारसे सजाया हुआ दिखायी देता है (इससे सिद्ध है कि वह घरमें ही है), तथापि वह मूर्ख मेरे पास आता क्‍यों नहीं है? ।। यस्माज्जानन्‌ स मन्दात्मा मामसौ नोपसर्पति । तस्मात्‌ तस्मै महादण्डो धार्य: स्यादिति मे मति:,“वह मन्दबुद्धि यक्ष मुझे आया हुआ जानकर भी मेरे निकट नहीं आ रहा है; इसलिये उसे महान्‌ दण्ड देना चाहिये, ऐसा मेरा विचार है”

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “ทั้งที่รู้ว่าเรามาถึงแล้ว คนปัญญาทึบนั้นก็ยังไม่เข้ามาใกล้เรา เพราะฉะนั้นตามความเห็นของเรา ควรลงโทษหนักแก่เขา”
