atha mām abravīd rāmaḥ krodha-paryākulekṣaṇaḥ | na kariṣyasi ced etad vākyaṃ me nara-puṅgava ||
The verse highlights how anger disturbs discernment and communication: Rāma’s agitated gaze frames a command as a threat-laden ultimatum, illustrating the ethical risk when authority is exercised under wrath.
A tense exchange is underway. Rāma, visibly angered, addresses the listener as “best of men” and begins to warn that consequences will follow if his instruction is not carried out.
