सहदेवो<पि नृपते इदमाह वचोड<र्थवत् | सुयोधन मतिर्या ते वृथैषा ते भविष्यति,राजन! तदनन्तर सहदेवने भी यह सार्थक वचन कहा--“महाराज दुर्योधन! आज जो तेरी बुद्धि है, वह व्यर्थ हो जायगी। इस समय हमारे इस महान् क्लेशका जो तू हर्षोत्फुल्ल होकर वर्णन कर रहा है, इसका फल यह होगा कि तू अपने पुत्र, कुटुम्बी तथा बन्धुजनोंसहित शोकमें डूब जायगा'

संजय उवाच
Arrogant confidence rooted in injustice is ultimately self-defeating. Rejoicing in another’s suffering and persisting in wrongful resolve (mati) leads to inevitable sorrow for oneself and one’s dependents—an ethical warning about pride, cruelty, and the karmic consequences of adharma.
In Sañjaya’s report, Sahadeva addresses Duryodhana directly, predicting that Duryodhana’s present determination will fail and that his gloating over the Pāṇḍavas’ hardship will culminate in his own overwhelming grief, affecting his sons and wider kin-group.
