Ulūka’s Message to the Pāṇḍavas
nāmṛṣyata purā yo 'sau svabāhubala-garvitaḥ
The verse contrasts forbearance with arrogance: pride in one’s own power makes a person unable to tolerate insult or restraint, and this lack of kṣānti becomes a moral weakness that fuels escalation.
Vaiśampāyana describes a previously mentioned figure as someone who, in earlier times, could not bear a situation because he was swollen with confidence in his own physical might—setting up the character’s temperament as a cause for ensuing tensions.
