एवमुक्तो5पि दुष्टात्मा नैव भागं व्यमुज्चत । दण्डं चतुर्थ पश्यामि तेषु पापेषु नान्यथा

Transliteration

evam ukto 'pi duṣṭātmā naiva bhāgaṁ vyamuñcata | daṇḍaṁ caturthaṁ paśyāmi teṣu pāpeṣu nānyathā ||

Translation

แม้ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวเช่นนั้นแล้ว ผู้มีจิตชั่วก็ยังไม่ยอมสละส่วนแบ่งใดเลย ดังนั้นต่อคนบาปเหล่านั้น ข้าพเจ้าไม่เห็นหนทางอื่นนอกจากวิธีที่สี่—ทัณฑ์ด้วยกำลัง—มิฉะนั้นย่อมเป็นไปไม่ได้ที่จะนำพวกเขากลับสู่หนทางอันชอบ
