उपप्लब्ये निविष्टोडपि धर्ममेव युधिष्ठिर: । काडक्षते ज्ञाति सौहार्दादू बलवान् दुर्बलो यथा
upaplabyē niviṣṭo 'pi dharmam eva yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | kāṅkṣate jñāti-sauhārdād balavān durbalo yathā ||
ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—แม้ตั้งค่ายอยู่ ณ อุปปลัวยะและเตรียมพร้อมเพื่อศึก ยุธิษฐิระก็ยังมุ่งหมายแต่ธรรมเท่านั้น ด้วยความรักและไมตรีต่อญาติวงศ์ เขาจึงปรารถนาการประนีประนอม—แม้เข้มแข็งก็ยอมขอสงบศึกประหนึ่งผู้ไร้กำลัง
