भीष्मद्रोणयोर्दुर्योधनं प्रति शमोपदेशः | Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel of Conciliation to Duryodhana

नमो धर्माय महते धर्मो धारयति प्रजा: । एतद्‌ धनंजयो वाच्यो नित्योद्युक्तो वृकोदर:,मैं तो उस महान्‌ धर्मको नमस्कार करती हूँ, क्योंकि धर्म ही समस्त प्रजाको धारण करता है। तुम अर्जुनसे तथा युद्धके लिये सदा उद्यत रहनेवाले भीमसेनसे भी जाकर कहना -- क्षत्राणी जिसके लिये पुत्रको जन्म देती है, उसका यह उपयुक्त अवसर आ गया है। श्रेष्ठ मनुष्य किसीसे वैर ठन जानेपर उत्साहहीन नहीं होते”

namo dharmāya mahate dharmo dhārayati prajāḥ | etad dhanaṃjayo vācyo nityodyukto vṛkodaraḥ ||

ขอนอบน้อมแด่ธรรมอันยิ่งใหญ่ เพราะธรรมทรงค้ำจุนหมู่ประชา จงนำถ้อยนี้ไปบอกธนัญชัย (อรชุน) และวฤโกทร (ภีมะ) ผู้พร้อมลงมืออยู่เนืองนิตย์ว่า—กาลอันสมควรได้มาถึงแล้ว สำหรับเหตุที่สตรีกษัตริย์ให้กำเนิดบุตร; บุรุษผู้ประเสริฐเมื่อผูกเวรแล้ว ย่อมไม่คลายความฮึกเหิม
