[दाक्षिणात्य अधिक पाठका १ श्लोक मिलाकर कुल ३१ “लोक हैं।] अपने-आप बछ। अंक पञ्चाधिकशततमोब< ध्याय: भगवान्‌ विष्णुके द्वारा गरुड़का गर्वभंजन तथा दुर्योधनद्वारा कण्व मुनिके उपदेशकी अवहेलना कण्व उवाच गरुडस्तत्र शुभ्राव यथावृत्तं महाबल: । आयु:प्रदानं शक्रेण कृतं नागस्य भारत,कण्व मुनि कहते हैं--भारत! महाबली गरुड़ने यह सारा वृत्तान्त यथार्थरूपसे सुना कि इन्द्रने सुमुख नागको दीर्घायु प्रदान की है

garuḍas tatra śuśrāva yathāvṛttaṃ mahābalaḥ |

āyuḥ-pradānaṃ śakreṇa kṛtaṃ nāgasya bhārata ||

กัณวะมุนีกล่าวว่า—“โอ ภารตะ ณ ที่นั้น ครุฑผู้มีกำลังยิ่งได้ฟังเรื่องราวทั้งหมดตามที่เกิดขึ้นจริงว่า ศักระ (พระอินทร์) ได้ประทานอายุยืนแก่พญานาคสุมุข”
