शृणोति श्रावयेद् वापि सततं चैव यो नर: । सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तो वैष्णवं पदमाप्तनुयात्,जो मनुष्य सदा महाभारतको सुनता अथवा सुनाता रहता है वह सब पापोंसे मुक्त होकर भगवान् विष्णुके धामको जाता है
śṛṇoti śrāvayed vāpi satataṃ caiva yo naraḥ | sarvapāpavinirmukto vaiṣṇavaṃ padam āpnoti ||
ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า— ผู้ใดสดับมหาภารตะอยู่เนืองนิตย์ หรือให้ผู้อื่นได้สดับอยู่เสมอ ผู้นั้นย่อมพ้นจากบาปทั้งปวง และบรรลุไวษณวบท—คือพระธรรมสถานอันสูงสุดของพระวิษณุ.
