वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the post-war resolution of lives through karma and destiny: after enduring the consequences of their actions and suffering, Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Gāndhārī proceed to exalted realms. It suggests that cosmic order can grant release and higher states, while still implying that ethical responsibility for past choices remains significant in the broader narrative.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Dhṛtarāṣṭra reaches the difficult-to-attain worlds of Dhaneśa (Kubera). Gāndhārī, described as illustrious, accompanies him—marking their transition from earthly life and sorrow into a celestial destination.
