This verse is a colophon marking the close of a chapter within the instruction on rājadharma (royal duty). Its ethical context is to frame the preceding discourse as authoritative guidance on righteous governance within the broader peace-and-restoration concerns of the Śānti Parvan.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana formally concludes the chapter, identifying its placement in the Mahābhārata: Śānti Parvan, specifically the Rājadharmānuśāsana section. It functions as a structural marker rather than advancing plot.
