स पाण्डवेयस्य मन:समुत्थितं नरेन्द्र शोक॑ व्यपकर्ष मेधया । भवद्विधा हुत्तमबुद्धिविस्तरा विमुह्यमानस्य नरस्य शान्तये,“नरेन्द्र! पाण्डुनन्दन युधिष्ठिरके हृदयमें जो शोक उमड़ आया है, उसे आप अपनी बुद्धिके द्वारा दूर कीजिये। आप-जैसे उत्तम बुद्धिके विस्तारवाले पुरुष ही मोहग्रस्त मनुष्यके शोकसंतापको दूर करके उसे शान्ति दे सकते हैं!

sa pāṇḍaveyasya manaḥ-samutthitaṃ narendra śokaṃ vyapakarṣa medhayā | bhavad-vidhā hy uttama-buddhi-vistarā vimuhyamānasya narasya śāntaye ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—ข้าแต่มหาราช จงขจัดด้วยปัญญาอันแหลมคมของท่านซึ่งความโศกที่พลุ่งขึ้นในพระทัยของยุธิษฐิระ โอรสแห่งปาณฑุ บุรุษเช่นท่าน ผู้มีปัญญาอันประเสริฐและกว้างไกลเท่านั้น ที่สามารถดับความเศร้าและไฟเร่าร้อนภายในของผู้หลงมัวเมา แล้วนำเขากลับคืนสู่ความสงบได้
