Rāma–Jāmadagnya-janma-kāraṇa and Kṣatra-kṣaya
Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
ṛcīka uvāca | putre nāsti viśeṣo me pautre ca varavarṇini | yathā tvayoktaṃ vacanaṃ tathā bhadre bhaviṣyati ||
The verse emphasizes impartial familial regard and ethical consistency: one should not discriminate between close relations (son vs. grandson) and should honor a spoken assurance—letting one’s actions match one’s word.
R̥cīka responds to a woman he addresses respectfully, affirming that he makes no distinction between a son and a grandson and promising that her stated request or proposal will be fulfilled exactly as she has said.
