Yudhiṣṭhira’s Entry into the City and the Cārvāka Episode
हतास्ते क्षत्रधर्मेण ज्ञातयस्तव पार्थिव । स्वर्गताश्न महात्मानो वीरा: क्षत्रियपुड़वा:,राजन! आपने क्षत्रियरर्मके अनुसार भाई-बन्धुओंका वध किया है। वे महामनस्वी क्षत्रियशिरोमणि वीर स्वर्गलोकमें चले गये हैं
hatās te kṣatradharmeṇa jñātayas tava pārthiva | svargatāś ca mahātmāno vīrāḥ kṣatriyapuṅgavāḥ ||
โอ พระราชา! ญาติของพระองค์ถูกสังหารตามธรรมของกษัตริย์นักรบ และวีรชนผู้มีจิตยิ่งใหญ่เหล่านั้น—ผู้เลิศในหมู่กษัตริย์—ได้ไปสู่สวรรค์แล้ว
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse frames death in righteous battle as consistent with kṣatriya-dharma and therefore not merely a personal tragedy but an ethically meaningful act with a promised spiritual result (svarga), offering consolation and moral perspective to the grieving ruler.
Vāyudeva addresses a king who laments the killing of his own relatives, reminding him that they fell according to the warrior code and, as noble heroes, have attained heaven—thus urging him to restrain excessive sorrow.
