Prāyaścitta-vidhāna: Tapas, Dāna, Vrata, and Proportional Expiation (प्रायश्चित्तविधानम्)

व्यास उवाच अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम्‌ । सिद्धानां चैव संवाद मनोश्वैव प्रजापते:,व्यासजी बोले--राजन्‌! इस विषयमें लोग प्रजापति मनु और सिद्ध पुरुषोंके संवादरूप इस प्राचीन इतिहासका उदाहरण दिया करते हैं

vyāsa uvāca | atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam | siddhānāṃ caiva saṃvādaṃ manoś caiva prajāpateḥ ||

วยาสะกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระราชา ในเรื่องนี้ผู้คนยกแบบอย่างโบราณขึ้นกล่าว—คือเรื่องเล่าเก่าแก่ ว่าด้วยบทสนทนาระหว่างเหล่าสิทธะกับปรชาปติ มนู.”
