अस्मिन्‌ हि लोकसम्भारे परं पारमभीप्सत: । उत्पन्ना मे मतिरियं कुतो धर्ममय: प्लव:,मुझे इस संसारसागरसे पार जानेकी इच्छा हुई है, अतः मेरे मनमें यह जिज्ञासा हो रही है कि मुझे धर्ममयी नौका कहाँसे प्राप्त होगी?

asmin hi lokasambhāre paraṃ pāram abhīpsataḥ | utpannā me matir iyaṃ kuto dharmamayaḥ plavaḥ ||

ในความจอแจแห่งโลกนี้ ข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาจะไปให้ถึงฝั่งอันไกลโพ้น ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงเกิดคำถามในใจว่า ‘ข้าพเจ้าจะได้เรือที่ทำด้วยธรรม—เรือที่จะพาข้ามไป—มาจากที่ใด?’
