अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः

एभिम्मया निहन्तव्या दुर्विनीता: सुरारय: । “इसलिये मैं अवतार लेकर इस पृथ्वीकी रक्षा अवश्य करूँगा। ऐसा सोच-विचारकर भगवान् मधुसूदनने जगत्के लिये अवतार ग्रहण करनेके निमित्त अपने अनेक रूपोंकी सृष्टि की अर्थात् वाराह, नरसिंह, वामन एवं मनुष्यरूपोंका स्मरण किया। उन्होंने यह निश्चय किया था कि मुझे इन अवतारोंद्वारा उद्दण्ड दैत्योंका वध करना है
ebhirmayā nihantavyā durvinītāḥ surārayaḥ |
