आराध्य तपसोग्रेण देवं हयशिरोधरम्‌ । पज्चालेन क्रम: प्राप्तो देवेन पथि देशिते,महादेवजीके बताये हुए मार्गपर चलकर उग्र तपस्याद्वारा भगवान्‌ हयग्रीवकी आराधना करके पांचालदेशीय गालवमुनिने वेदोंका क्रमविभाग प्राप्त किया था

Transliteration

Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca |

ārādhya tapasogreṇa devaṃ hayaśirodharam |

pañcālena kramaḥ prāpto devena pathi deśite ||

Translation

ด้วยดำเนินตามหนทางที่เทพทรงชี้เอง ฤๅษีกาลวะแห่งแคว้นปัญจาละได้บำเพ็ญตบะอันเข้มกล้า บูชาเทพผู้ทรงเศียรม้า—หัยครีวะ—แล้วจึงบรรลุการจัดวางลำดับแห่งพระเวทโดยถูกต้องเป็นระเบียบ
