कथमेष महाप्राज्ञ ज्वरः प्रादुर्बभी कुतः । ज्वरोत्पत्तिं निपुणत: श्रोतुमिच्छाम्यहं प्रभो,महामते! प्रभो! यह ज्वर कैसे और कहाँसे उत्पन्न हुआ? मैं ज्वरकी उत्पत्तिका प्रसंग भलीभाँति सुनना चाहता हूँ

Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: katham eṣa mahāprājña jvaraḥ prādurbabhūva kutaḥ | jvarotpattiṁ nipuṇataḥ śrotum icchāmy ahaṁ prabho, mahāmate ||

ยุธิษฐิระกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่ท่านผู้ทรงปรีชาญาณยิ่ง ชวร (ไข้) นี้ปรากฏขึ้นได้อย่างไร และเกิดขึ้นจากที่ใด? ข้าแต่ท่านผู้เป็นนาย ข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาจะฟังเรื่องกำเนิดของชวรโดยละเอียด”
