Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)

तान्‌ सर्वनाचरेन्नित्यं भवेच्चानपगो गुरो: । शास्त्रोंमें ब्रह्मचारीके लिये जो कोई भी नियम विस्तारपूर्वक बताये गये हैं, उन सबका वह पालन करे तथा सदा गुरुके समीप ही रहे

tān sarvān ācaren nityaṁ bhavec cānapago guroḥ |

วินัยทั้งปวงที่คัมภีร์บัญญัติไว้โดยพิสดารสำหรับพรหมจารี พึงประพฤติเป็นนิตย์; และพึงเป็นผู้ไม่ห่างจากครู—อยู่ใกล้ครูอยู่เสมอ

Educational Q&A

A brahmacārin’s dharma is twofold: (1) to observe all prescribed disciplines consistently, and (2) to remain steadfastly near the guru—physically and in obedience—so that learning is grounded in service, restraint, and continuity.

In Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and right conduct, Vyāsa states a rule for the student-life stage: the student should follow the śāstric regulations in full and should not leave the teacher’s side, emphasizing disciplined study and guru-sevā as the basis of ethical formation.
