Adhyāya 214: Tapas Redefined—Perpetual Discipline, Hospitality, and the Ethics of Eating (तपः-निरूपणम्, विघसाशी-अतिथिप्रिय-धर्मः)

योषितां न कथा क्षाव्या न निरीक्ष्या निरम्बरा: । कथज्वचिद्‌ दर्शनादासां दुर्बलानां विशेद्रज:,स्त्रियोंकी चर्चा न सुने। उन्हें नंगी अवस्थामें न देखे; क्योंकि यदि किसी प्रकार नग्नावस्थाओंमें उनपर दृष्टि चली जाती है तो दुर्बल हृदयवाले पुरुषोंके मनमें रजोगुण--राग या कामभावका प्रवेश हो जाता है

yoṣitāṁ na kathā kṣāvyā na nirīkṣyā nirambarāḥ | kathañcid darśanād āsāṁ durbalānāṁ viśed rajaḥ ||

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า ไม่พึงฟังถ้อยคำสนทนาเกี่ยวกับสตรี และไม่พึงมองสตรีในยามไร้เครื่องนุ่งห่ม; เพราะหากบังเอิญได้เห็นนางในสภาพเปลือย กำลังแห่งรชัส—คือความใคร่และความยึดติด—ย่อมแทรกเข้าสู่จิตของบุรุษผู้มีความสำรวมอ่อนแอ
