Wealth, Sacrifice, and Disciplined Giving
अजाततशत्रो धर्मेण कृत्स्ना ते वसुधा जिता । तां जित्वा च वृथा राजन् न परित्यक्तुमहसि,नरेश्वर! अजातशत्रो! तुमने धर्मके अनुसार यह सारी पृथ्वी जीती है। इसे जीतकर व्यर्थ ही त्याग देना तुम्हारे लिये उचित नहीं है
ajātaśatro dharmeṇa kṛtsnā te vasudhā jitā | tāṃ jitvā ca vṛthā rājan na parityaktum arhasi, nareśvara ||
โอ้ อชาตศัตรู ด้วยธรรมะท่านได้พิชิตแผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นนี้แล้ว ครั้นพิชิตแล้ว ข้าแต่พระราชา ไม่ควรทรงละทิ้งไปโดยเปล่าประโยชน์
देवस्थान उवाच
Victory gained through dharma creates an obligation to govern responsibly; abandoning the realm out of despair or guilt is portrayed as a fruitless renunciation that neglects royal duty.
A counselor-like voice addresses Yudhiṣṭhira (Ajātaśatru), urging him not to give up sovereignty after having righteously won the earth, emphasizing that kingship must be carried as a duty rather than discarded.
