Adhyāya 166: Kṛtaghna-doṣa (कृतघ्नदोषः) — the fault of ingratitude and the limits of expiation

खलात्‌ क्षेत्रात्‌ तथा रामाद्‌ यतो वाप्युपपद्यते | आखयातव्यं नृपस्यैतत्‌ पृच्छते5पृच्छतेडपि वा,खलिहानसे, खेतसे, बगीचेसे अथवा जहाँसे भी अन्न मिल सके, वहींसे वह भोजनमात्रके लिये अन्न उठा लावे और उसके बाद राजा पूछे या न पूछे उसके पास जाकर अपनी वह बात उसे कह दे

khalāt kṣetrāt tathā rāmād yato vāpy upapadyate | ākhyātavyaṃ nṛpasyaitat pṛcchate'pṛcchate'pi vā ||

ไม่ว่าจะจากลานนวดข้าว จากทุ่งนา จากสวน หรือจากที่ใดก็ตามที่พึงหาเมล็ดพืชได้ เขาพึงเก็บมาเพียงเท่าที่จำเป็นต่อการยังชีพเท่านั้น ครั้นแล้วไม่ว่าพระราชาจะทรงไต่ถามหรือไม่ เขาพึงเข้าเฝ้าและกราบทูลเรื่องนี้ให้ทรงทราบ
