अज्ञान–लोभयोः परस्परहेतुत्वम्

Mutual Causality of Ignorance and Greed

करिष्ये धर्ममेवेति तृतीयात्‌ परिमुच्यते । शुचिस्तीर्थान्यनुचरन्‌ बहुत्वात्परिमुच्यते,“आजसे केवल धर्मका ही आचरण करूँगा" ऐसा नियम लेनेसे वह तीसरी बारके पापसे छुटकारा पा जाता है और पवित्र तीर्थोमें विचरण करनेवाला पुरुष अनेक बारके किये हुए बहुसंख्यक पापोंसे मुक्त हो जाता है

kariṣye dharmam eveti tṛtīyāt parimucyate | śucis tīrthāny anucaran bahutvāt parimucyate ||

“นับแต่วันนี้เราจักประพฤติธรรมเท่านั้น” เมื่อปฏิญาณวัตรดังนี้ บุคคลย่อมพ้นจากบาปที่เวียนกลับมาครั้งที่สาม และผู้ใดบริสุทธิ์แล้วจาริกไปตามทีรถะอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ทั้งหลาย ด้วยความมากมายแห่งทีรถะเหล่านั้น ผู้นั้นย่อมหลุดพ้นจากบาปจำนวนมากที่สั่งสมมาหลายคราว
