न त्वेव वचन किंचिदनिमित्तादिहोच्यते । सुविनीतेन शास्त्रेण न व्यवस्यन्त्यथापरे,विद्वान् पुरुष अकारण कोई बात नहीं कहते हैं और दूसरे बहुत-से मनुष्य भलीभाँति सीखे हुए शास्त्रके अनुसार कार्य करनेकी चेष्टा नहीं करते हैं

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า ผู้รู้ย่อมไม่กล่าวถ้อยคำแม้เพียงคำเดียวโดยไร้เหตุในที่นี้ แต่คนจำนวนมากกลับไม่ตั้งใจแน่วแน่ที่จะประพฤติตามคำสอนแห่งศาสตร (ศาสตรา) ที่ได้รับการถ่ายทอดอย่างถูกต้อง
