Śaraṇāgata-Atithi-Dharma in the Kapota Narrative (कपोत-आख्यानम्—शरणागतधर्मः)

श्षपच उवाच सुहृद्‌ भूत्वानुशासे त्वां कृपा हि त्वयि मे द्विज । यदिदं श्रेय आधत्स्व मा लोभात्‌ पातकं कृथा:

śvapaca uvāca: suhṛd bhūtvānuśāse tvāṁ kṛpā hi tvayi me dvija | yad idaṁ śreya ādhatsva mā lobhāt pātakaṁ kṛthāḥ ||

ศวปจะกล่าวว่า “โอ พราหมณ์ผู้เป็นทวิช ข้าพเจ้าเป็นมิตรผู้หวังดีจึงตักเตือนท่าน เพราะข้าพเจ้ามีความกรุณาต่อท่านโดยแท้ จงยึดถือสิ่งที่เป็นศุภประโยชน์อย่างแท้จริงเถิด อย่ากระทำบาปกรรมด้วยความโลภเลย”

Choose śreyas (true welfare and right conduct) over actions driven by lobha (greed). Even when tempted by gain, one should avoid pātaka (sin), and accept guidance grounded in compassion rather than pride or social rank.

An outcaste (śvapaca), speaking as a well-wisher, admonishes a brāhmaṇa (dvija). He urges the brāhmaṇa to adopt the beneficial course of action and warns him not to fall into wrongdoing motivated by greed.
