Educational Q&A

Bhīṣma urges restraint: in the face of enmity and conflict, one should desist from chasing royal power and material treasures, implying that greed and rivalry intensify hostility and undermine dharma.

In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous conduct after the war. This line forms part of his counsel on how rulers and people should curb acquisitiveness and avoid actions that provoke or prolong enmity.
