उन्माथमप्यथादाय चाण्डालो वीक्ष्य सर्वश:,भरतश्रेष्ठ] चाण्डालने उस जालको लेकर उसे सब ओरसे उलट-पलटकर देखा और निराश होकर क्षणभरमें उस स्थानसे हट गया और अन्तमें अपने घरको चला गया
unmātham apy athādāya cāṇḍālo vīkṣya sarvaśaḥ
ภีษมะกล่าวว่า จัณฑาลหยิบเครื่องมือนั้นขึ้นมาด้วย แล้วพลิกดูตรวจตราทุกด้าน ครั้นไม่พบประโยชน์หรือความหวังใด ๆ เขาก็ละจากที่นั้นไปในชั่วครู่ และท้ายที่สุดกลับเรือนของตน—แสดงให้เห็นว่าเมื่อแสวงหากำไรในที่ซึ่งมิใช่สิทธิของตน ความใคร่ย่อมพังทลายลงเป็นความผิดหวัง
