त्रिवर्गमूलनिश्चयः — Determining the Roots of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma
Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 123
भूय: स भगवान् ध्यात्वा चिरं शूलवरायुध: । तस्य तस्य निकायस्य चकारैकैकमीश्वरम्,भगवान् शूलपाणिने पुन: चिरकालतक चिन्तन करके भिन्न-भिन्न समूहका एक-एक राजा बनाया
bhūyaḥ sa bhagavān dhyātvā ciraṃ śūlavarāyudhaḥ | tasya tasya nikāyasya cakāraikaikam īśvaram ||
แล้วพระผู้เป็นเจ้า—ผู้ทรงมีศูลเป็นอาวุธอันประเสริฐ—ได้ทรงเข้าสมาธิยาวนานอีกครั้ง; ครั้นพิจารณาโดยชอบแล้ว จึงทรงแต่งตั้งผู้เป็นใหญ่หนึ่งเดียวให้แก่หมู่คณะอันแตกต่างแต่ละหมู่
