गम्भीरशब्दाक्ष महास्वनाश्न शड्खाश्न भेर्यश्व॒ नदन्ति यत्र । युयुत्सवश्चाप्रतीपा भवन्ति जयस्यैतद् भाविनो रूपमाहु:,जहाँ शंखोंकी गम्भीर ध्वनि और रणभेरीकी ऊँची आवाज फैल रही हो, युद्धकी इच्छा रखनेवाले सैनिक सर्वथा अनुकूल हों तो वहाँके लिये इसे भी भावी विजयका सूचक शुभ लक्षण कहा गया है

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “ที่ใดสังข์กังวานด้วยเสียงทุ้มลึก และกลองศึกคำรามกึกก้อง ที่ใดนักรบผู้ใคร่รบมีใจพร้อมเพรียง มั่นคง ไม่หวั่นไหว—เขากล่าวว่านั่นคือนิมิตมงคล เป็นรูปแห่งชัยชนะที่กำลังจะมาถึง”
