गरुडने विचित्र पंखोंसे सुशोभित अपना प्रिय पुत्र मयूर भेंट किया। अरुणने लाल शिखावाले अपने पुत्र ताम्रचूड (मुर्ग)-को समर्पित किया, जिसका पैर ही आयुध था ।। नागं तु वरुणो राजा बलवीर्यसमन्वितम्‌ | कृष्णाजिन ततो ब्रद्मा ब्रह्मण्याय ददौ प्रभु:

nāgaṃ tu varuṇo rājā balavīryasamanvitam | kṛṣṇājinaṃ tato brahmā brahmaṇyāya dadau prabhuḥ ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—พระเจ้าวรุณะทรงถวาย “นาค” ผู้เปี่ยมด้วยกำลังและวีรภาพยิ่งนัก แล้วพระพรหมผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ประทาน “กฤษณาชินะ” คือหนังละมั่งดำ แก่ผู้ทรงธรรมผู้ภักดีต่อพราหมณ์ เพื่อเป็นเกียรติแห่งทานอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์
