Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how outward might and intimidating presence can command attention, yet such power is ethically ambivalent in a war driven by pride and adharma; awe does not equal righteousness, and grandeur can accompany a tragic course.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Duryodhana, holding a mace and ready to fight, is seen by all the Pāṇḍavas as towering and formidable—likened to Mount Kailāsa with its peaks—setting the tone for the climactic mace-fight episode.
