Resolve for the Mace Duel

आयुधानामियं चापि वृता त्वत्सम्मते गदा । दुर्योधन बोला--राजन्‌! यदि ऐसी बात है तो इस महासमरमें मेरे साथ लड़नेके लिये आज किसी भी एक शूरवीरको दे दो और तुम्हारी सम्मतिके अनुसार हथियारोंमें मैंने एकमात्र इस गदाका ही वरण किया है

āyudhānām iyaṃ cāpi vṛtā tvat-sammate gadā |

ทุรโยธน์กล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระราชา หากเป็นเช่นนั้น ในมหาสงครามนี้ โปรดกำหนดวีรบุรุษสักผู้หนึ่งให้มาสู้กับข้าในวันนี้ และด้วยความเห็นชอบของพระองค์ ในบรรดาอาวุธทั้งหลาย ข้าเลือกเพียง ‘กดา’ นี้เป็นอาวุธเดียวของข้า”
