मामप्युद्धृतवान् कृच्छात् पौलोमीं मघवानिव । “इसी प्रकार हिडिम्बासुरसे भेंट होनेपर भी आप ही उनके आश्रयदाता हुए। विराटनगरमें जब कीचकने मुझे बहुत तंग कर दिया
mām apy uddhṛtavān kṛcchrāt paulomīṃ maghavān iva |
ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า— “ท่านได้ช่วยข้าพเจ้าจากภัยอันแสนสาหัสด้วย เช่นเดียวกับที่มฆวาน (พระอินทร์) เคยช่วยเปาโลมีไว้ในกาลก่อน ครั้นเมื่อประสบเหตุเผชิญหน้ากับหิฑิมพะ ท่านก็เป็นที่พึ่งและผู้คุ้มครองของพวกเขา; และในนครวิราฏ เมื่อกีจกะรังแกข้าพเจ้าอย่างหนัก ท่านก็ช่วยข้าพเจ้าจากมหันตภัยนั้น—ดุจพระอินทร์ช่วยเปาโลมี.”
