राजसिंह! इस प्रकार जब वह भयंकर घमासान युद्ध चलने लगा और धृष्टद्युम्नका पुत्र मारा गया, तब भगवान् श्रीकृष्णने वहाँ अर्जुनसे कहा--'पार्थ! कर्ण पांचालोंका संहार कर रहा है, अत: आगे बढ़ो और उसे मार डालो” ।।
tataḥ prahasyāśu narapravīro rathaṃ rathenādhirather jagāma | bhaye teṣāṃ trāṇam icchan subāhur abhyāhatānāṃ rathayūthapena ||
ข้าแต่ราชาผู้ดุจราชสีห์! ครั้นศึกอันน่าสะพรึงกลัวนั้นปะทุขึ้นและบุตรของธฤษฏทยุมน์ถูกสังหาร ณ ที่นั้นพระกฤษณะตรัสแก่อรชุนว่า “โอ้ ปารถะ กรรณะกำลังทำลายกองทัพปัญจาล จงรุดหน้าไปและสังหารเขาเสีย” แล้วอรชุน วีรบุรุษผู้เลิศและแขนงาม ยิ้มพลางเร่งรถศึกของตนพุ่งไปยังรถของบุตรสารถี ด้วยประสงค์จะคุ้มครองไพร่พลที่บาดเจ็บและตกอยู่ในความหวาดหวั่น ประหนึ่งผู้นำหมู่รถศึก
