ज्यातलनत्रेषुशब्दांश्न शृणु कर्ण महात्मनाम् | “कर्ण! बाणोंके भाँति-भाँतिके शब्द, मनुष्यों, घोड़ों और रथोंके कोलाहल तथा महामनस्वी वीरोंकी प्रत्यंचा और दस्तानोंके शब्द सुनो
Sañjaya uvāca: jyātalanatreṣuśabdāṃś ca śṛṇu karṇa mahātmanām | karṇa! bāṇānāṃ bhānti-bhāntike śabdān manuṣyāśva-ratha-kolāhalaṃ ca mahāmanasvī-vīrāṇāṃ pratyancā-dastāna-śabdāṃś ca śṛṇu ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “โอ กรรณะ จงฟังเสียงของวีรชนผู้มีจิตยิ่งใหญ่—เสียงสายธนูสะบัดกังวานและเสียงปะทุของเครื่องป้องกัน; เสียงหวีดและเสียงกระแทกของศรนานา; และความอื้ออึงของคน ม้า และรถศึก. จงฟังเถิด ราวกับว่าสนามรบเองกำลังประกาศปณิธานและเดชานุภาพของผู้ที่ก้าวเข้าสู่ธรรมแห่งสงครามอันมืดหม่นนี้”
