कर्णेन युधिष्ठिरानीकविदारणम् / Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
(त्वं देव शक्तो लोके5स्मिन् नियन्तुं प्रद्गुतानिमान् । वेदाश्वान्ू सोपनिषद: सारथिभर्भव न: स्वयम् ।।
duryodhana uvāca |
tvaṁ deva śakto loke 'smin niyantuṁ pradrutān imān |
vedāśvān sopaniṣadaḥ sārathir bhava naḥ svayam ||
yoddhuṁ balena sattvena vīryeṇa vinayena ca |
adhikaḥ sārathiḥ kāryo nāsti cānyo 'dhiko bhavāt ||
sa bhavāṁs tārayatv asmān kuru sārathyam avyayam |
bhavān abhyadhikas tvatto nānyo 'stīha pitāmaha ||
tvaṁ hi deveśa sarvais tu viśiṣṭo vadatāṁ vara |
sa rathaṁ tūṇam āruhya saṁyaccha paramān hayān |
jayāya trideveśānāṁ vadhāya tridaśadviṣām ||
ทุรโยธนะกล่าวว่า “โอ้เทพผู้ทรงฤทธิ์! ในโลกนี้มีเพียงท่านเท่านั้นที่สามารถรั้งและควบคุมสิ่งเหล่านี้—ดุจม้าแห่งพระเวทที่พุ่งทะยานพร้อมอุปนิษัท—ได้ ดังนั้นขอท่านจงเป็นสารถีของเราด้วยพระองค์เอง ในศึก สารถีควรเป็นผู้เหนือกว่านักรบเสียอีก ทั้งกำลัง ความแน่วแน่ วีรภาพ และความนอบน้อมมีวินัย—และไม่มีผู้ใดใหญ่กว่าท่าน โอ้ปิตามหะ! โปรดรับหน้าที่สารถีอันไม่เสื่อมสูญนี้ และพาเราข้ามพ้นภัยพิบัติ—ที่นี่ไม่มีผู้ใดสูงกว่าท่าน โอ้จอมเทพ ผู้เป็นยอดแห่งวาจา! ท่านเลิศเหนือทุกผู้—จงขึ้นรถศึกโดยพลัน ควบคุมม้าชั้นเลิศเหล่านี้ เพื่อชัยชนะของเหล่าเทพ และเพื่อทำลายศัตรูของเทพทั้งหลาย”
