Karna Reproves Shalya; Brahmin Reports on Bāhlīkas; Shalya’s Universalizing Rebuttal (कर्ण–शल्य संवादः)

नते निन्द्या: प्रशस्यास्ते यत्ते चक्रुर्ब्रवीहि तत्‌ ततो दुर्योधन: सूत पश्चात्‌ किमकरोत्‌ तदा,इसलिये वे हमारे पक्षके सैनिक या नरेश निन्दनीय नहीं हैं, प्रशंसाके ही पात्र हैं। उन्होंने जो कुछ किया हो, बताओ। सूत! सेनाके शिविरमें लौट आनेके पश्चात्‌ उस समय दुर्योधनने क्या किया?

dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca | na te nindyāḥ praśasyās te yat te cakrur bravīhi tat | tato duryodhanaḥ sūta paścāt kim akarot tadā ||

ธฤตราษฏระตรัสว่า “พวกเขามิใช่ผู้ควรถูกตำหนิ หากเป็นผู้ควรสรรเสริญ จงบอกเราว่าพวกเขาได้กระทำสิ่งใด แล้วต่อมา โอสุตะ! เมื่อทุรโยธน์กลับสู่ค่ายทัพแล้ว ในเวลานั้นเขากระทำสิ่งใด?”
