कलापिनश्चापहस्ता दीर्घकेशा: प्रियंवदा: । पत्तय: सादिनक्षान्ये घोररूपपराक्रमा:
sañjaya uvāca |
kalāpinaścāpahastā dīrghakeśāḥ priyaṃvadāḥ |
pattayaḥ sādinakṣānye ghorarūpaparākramāḥ ||
tābhyāṃ muktā mahābāṇāḥ kaṅkabārhiṇavāsasaḥ |
dyotayanto diśaḥ sarvāḥ sampetuḥ svarṇabhūṣaṇāḥ ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระราชา เหล่านักรบทั้งหลายได้ปฏิญาณร่วมกันว่าจะโอบรับความตาย จึงมิได้ทอดทิ้งกันและกัน พวกเขาสวมขนหางนกยูงบนเศียร ถือคันศรอันส่องประกายในมือ ปล่อยผมยาวสยาย และกล่าววาจาไพเราะ แล้วรุดหน้าไป ทหารราบและทหารม้าอื่น ๆ ก็มีรูปโฉมดุร้ายและเดชานุภาพน่าหวั่นเกรง จากนักรบทั้งสองนั้น ลูกศรใหญ่ประดับทอง ติดขนแร้งและขนหางนกยูง ถูกยิงออกไป พลุ่งพล่านดุจเปลวไฟ ประหนึ่งส่องสว่างทั่วทุกทิศก่อนจะตกลง”
