संजय उवाच महाप्रभावे वरदे निपातिते लोकेश्वरे शास्तरि चामितौजसि । पराजितेषु भरतेषु दुर्मना: कर्णो भृशं न्यश्वसदश्रु वर्तयन्
sañjaya uvāca mahāprabhāve varade nipātite lokeśvare śāstari cāmitaujasi | parājiteṣu bharateṣu durmanāḥ karṇo bhṛśaṃ nyaśvasad aśru vartayan ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า เมื่อภีษมะผู้ทรงมหาบารมี เป็นผู้ประทานพร เป็นเจ้าและผู้ปกครองในหมู่มนุษย์ และมีเดชานุภาพหาประมาณมิได้ ถูกฟันล้มลง และฝ่ายภารตะกำลังถูกตีแตก กรรณะก็เศร้าหมองยิ่งนัก ถอนใจยาว ๆ พร้อมปล่อยให้น้ำตาไหลริน.
