कर्ण हि कुरवो<स्मार्षु: स हि देवव्रतोपम: । सर्वशस्त्रभृतां श्रेष्ठ रोचमानमिवातिथिम्‌

karṇa hi kuravo 'smārṣuḥ sa hi devavrato'pamaḥ | sarvaśastrabhṛtāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ rocamānam ivātithim ||

แล้วเหล่ากุรุ (คุรุวะ) ก็รำลึกถึงกรรณะ เพราะเขาถูกนับว่าเสมอด้วยเทววรตะ (ภีษมะ) จิตของพวกเขาหันไปหาวีรบุรุษผู้รุ่งโรจน์นั้น—ผู้เลิศในหมู่นักรบผู้ทรงศัสตรา—ดุจใจของคฤหัสถ์ที่มุ่งสู่แขกผู้มาเยือน
