यो5न्वयो मातृकस्तस्य स एनमभिपेदिवान् | संग्राममें पीठ न दिखानेवाला इरावान् जब क्रोधमें भरकर युद्ध कर रहा था, उसी समय उसके मातृकुलके नागोंका समुदाय उसकी सहायताके लिये वहाँ आ पहुँचा
yo 'nvayo mātṛkas tasya sa enam abhipedivān | saṅgrāme pīṭhaṁ na darśayanevāla irāvān yadā krodhena bharan yuddhaṁ karoti sma, tadā tasya mātṛkulasya nāgānāṁ samūhaḥ sahāyatārthaṁ tatra samupāgataḥ ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า—หมู่ญาติทางสายมารดาของเขาก็เข้ามาช่วยในบัดนั้นเอง ขณะอิราวันผู้ไม่เคยหันหลังให้ศึก กำลังรบด้วยโทสะพลุ่งพล่าน หมู่นาคแห่งตระกูลมารดาก็ยกมาถึงที่นั่นเพื่อเกื้อหนุนเขา
