समयश्न मया पूर्व कृतो वै शत्रुकर्शन । नाहं युधि नियोक्तव्यो नाप्याचार्य: कथंचन
saṃjaya uvāca | samayaś ca mayā pūrvaṃ kṛto vai śatrukarśana | nāhaṃ yudhi niyoktavyo nāpy ācāryaḥ kathaṃcana |
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “โอ้ผู้ปราบศัตรู ข้าพเจ้าได้ตั้งปณิธานไว้ก่อนแล้วว่า ในศึกนี้ไม่ควรแต่งตั้งข้าพเจ้าให้ออกรบ และไม่ควรนำอาจารย์โทรณะไปใช้ในทางใดเลย เพราะผู้ที่มีความเอ็นดูต่อทั้งสองฝ่ายอย่างเสมอกัน ไม่สมควรถูกบังคับให้กระทำความรุนแรงเข้าข้างฝ่ายใดฝ่ายหนึ่ง”
